Course Description:
This course teaches you how to use Strobe as the centerpiece of an application service management discipline that allows you to develop and maintain efficient, responsive applications. You will learn to submit Strobe measurement requests, create Performance Profiles and use those profiles to analyze an application's CPU usage and wait time. The course includes discussion of commonly occurring opportunities for performance improvement. Hands-on workshops reinforce the information presented.
Optional extensions to the class provide you with an opportunity to analyze Strobe Performance Profiles for UNIX Systems Services, CICS, DB2, IMS, ADABAS/NATURAL, CA-IDMS, WebSphere MQ, WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and Java. If you have iStrobe or AutoStrobe installed, we can include hands-on training in performance analysis using these products.

Prerequisites:
Attendees should have the following background for this course:
- Knowledge of application programming in an OS/390 environment, working knowledge of JCL and ISPF.
