File-AID Training Courses

File-AID/CS

Learn how to manipulate and manage data for application development, analysis testing and maintenance. The course covers topics such as: data transformation, reformatting and related subsetting of test data; spreadsheet-style editing and browsing of data in the major relational databases; creation and modification of data to support application testing; data comparison and test data validation. In addition, comparing and creating of XML data streams, extracting and loading data from one client/server environment to another, and transferring data from a mainframe to a client/server environment for testing. Hands-on workshops to reinforce the materials are included.

File-AID/Data Solutions

Learn data manipulating functions such as the complex data translator to translate one or more fields based on a lookup translate table. Data analysis to report on invalid data, conversion of European currency and manipulation of data fields. Also, how to create test files using arithmetic operations to alter copied fields or data generation (sequence/random, pattern masking or by values of fields from another file). Learn to protect sensitive data through encryption translation.

File-AID for DB2 for Business Analysts

Business analysts can learn the browse capabilities needed to look at, but not change, DB2 tables, including the powerful Related Browse (RB) and Related Edit (RE) commands.

File-AID for DB2

DB2 programmers learn how to obtain the data needed without coding SQL. Create a table modeled from a DBA-designed table, copy data into it from an existing table and then customize the data to represent exactly the conditions needed to test your programs. The Enhanced Related Edit Facility is also covered.

File-AID for IMS/FLEX

Learn how to work with IMS data in a batch environment. Build FLEX commands and JCL for each user via the ISPF models, which are selected from a user interface. Learn the basics of ISPF models; how to extract, modify, delete and count segments; and run and print reports. Hands-on workshop topics include: building cross references, ISPF models, modify records (change, insert and delete), EXTRACT field level (e.g., segment concatenated keys, segments and fields within single or multiple segments), count segments and printing (e.g., COBOL layouts, graphic display, individual fields and counts).

File-AID for IMS/ISPF for Business Analysts

Business analysts can learn the browse capabilities needed to look at, but not change, IMS databases, including the extended editing commands.

File-AID for IMS/ISPF

Learn how to use File-AID for IMS to edit and browse IMS databases in formatted and unformatted modes; print the IMS data in formatted mode; and selectively extract data from simple and complex (logical and application relationships) databases and load databases, preserving all relationships. This course combines instructor lecture, instructor/student interactive "demo" and hands-on workshops.

File-AID/MVS-Batch

Learn how to extract and modify data for applications development, testing and maintenance, and how to manipulate data using built-in batch capabilities through JCL jobstreams. Also includes hands-on workshops to reinforce the materials.

File-AID/MVS for Business Analysts

Business Analysts learn how to view and modify data for everyday production control, support and maintenance, and how to manipulate data online. Covers capabilities of File-AID including: browsing and editing data in various modes; changing data globally; extensive utilities; batch functions; and comparing and printing capabilities. Hands-on workshops reinforce the materials.

File-AID/MVS Compare

Learn how to use the extensions and enhanced capabilities of the Compare utility within the File-AID/MVS product. Included are topics covering: comparing files with different layouts, PDS compare, tolerance amounts and percents, and load module compare. Hands-on workshops reinforce the materials.

File-AID/MVS

Learn how to extract and modify data for application development, testing and maintenance, and how to manipulate data online and in batch. Covers capabilities of File-AID including: browsing and editing data in character; hex and formatted modes; comparing data; extensive utilities; batch commands and utilities; and printing capabilities. Source and JCL compare features also are covered. Hands-on workshops reinforce the materials.

File-AID/Related Data XPERT

Learn how to manage related data across multiple platforms, extract, load and delete a complete subset of related data from DB2 objects and/or MVS datasets. Learn how to use a familiar ISPF-like format to create and populate test objects that accurately reflect the production relationships, yet contain only a relevant subset of the data-without coding SQL or writing programs. And how to migrate related sets of data from one DB2 subsystem and/or MVS environment to another with all parent/child relationships properly maintained.
