Getting Started with OptimalJ

Start using OptimalJ

The JavaCentral Community site has many offerings to help you use the OptimalJ product. To access these resources, you will need to be a community member. Register for free, and become a member of the JavaCentral Community.

Begin by reading the Documentation, using the Tutorial or by using the interactive OptimalJ Introductory Training

Next, check out the Frequently Asked Questions.

If you still have questions about the product, or if you want to share your experiences with other community members, join the JavaCentral Forums.

In the Support Center you will find a Known Software Problems list, as well as many other useful documents.

Installation of the OptimalJ Professional Edition trial version

Before you start installing the product, check the System Requirements and the Supported Environments.
  1. Before installing, you must have the Java 2 SDK version 1.4.2 installed. This can be downloaded from Sun.
  2. Get the software from the Download page
  3. After you downloaded the .jar file, type java -jar <downloaded file name> in the directory you saved the downloaded file (e.g. java -jar optimalj-3-0-pe-setup.jar) and follow the installation instructions.
OptimalJ Editions

OptimalJ Professional Edition
This is a commercial product that is currently available as a 30 day trial version. Order Professional Edition or get started by requesting the trial version (login required).

OptimalJ Demo Edition
This is a freely downloadable version of OptimalJ. By means of a guided interactive scenario the Demo Edition takes the user by the hand through the steps of creating a small three-tier application. Read more...
