For performance reasons, Hiperstation has always used extended common service area (ECSA) as storage for its data collection buffers for Global Record. In order to provide constraint relief for other programs requiring ECSA use, the TCP and MQ buffers have been moved above the BAR into High Virtual Common Storage. There are no configuration changes in Hiperstation needed to take advantage of this enhancement.
Enhanced functionality to collect Hiperstation usage data and provide records to Enterprise Common Components to upload for use and analysis by zAdviser. zAdviser can then measure quality, velocity, and efficiency of Mainframe development. Refer to the Enterprise Common Components Advanced Configuration Guide for Release 17.02 for detailed instructions on how to enable the creation of zAdviser records.
Compuware’s Simple Installation fundamentally changes the way Compuware mainframe products are installed and configured. Simple Installation streamlines the process into logical task flows and checklists, as suggested through numerous customer feedback initiatives. Compuware delivers the next phase of Simple Installation with the introduction of PARMLIB-enabled solutions in Release 17.02 of our mainframe-based products.
The next phases of Simple Installation are planned and will provide more features to further reduce the time, resources, and effort needed to install and configure Compuware solutions across one or many LPAR instances.
Each mainframe product now uses the Compuware Mainframe Services Controller (CMSC) PARMLIB facility, which gives many advantages over the previous customization methods. Some of these features include:
• Migration to newer releases by simply copying the current PARMLIB file, thereby shortcutting or eliminating future repetitive and/or lengthy tasks (such as compiling or executing configuration dialogs).
• Security for the Hiperstation for WebSphere MQ product is now checked not only when the product is started, but also whenever a Restart command for a global recording request is issued. If security has changed for the request owner or rules have been changed, requests that ran before may no longer run.
