Obtaining the Latest Release Notes

If you accessed this document from a product CD, you may not be reading the latest Release Notes. For the most recent information, go to FrontLine , Compuware's technical support Web site. The first time you access FrontLine, you are required to register and obtain a password. After logging onto FrontLine, select your product from the drop-down list. On the product page, click the Documentation link below the product name. The latest Release Notes document is listed with the other product documentation.


What’s New in ECC Release 16.05

Enterprise Common Components (ECC) 16.05 incorporates the following components:

Host Communications Interface (HCI)

Compuware Shared Services (CSS)

Base Services

License Management System (LMS)

Compuware Mainframe Services Controller (CMSC)

Single FMID

Host Communications Interface (HCI), License Management System (LMS), Base Services, Shared Services and Compuware Mainframe Services Controller (CMSC) features are now installed as a single FMID.

CMSC

New to ECC 16.05.00, the CMSC is a centralized facility built on the Base Services framework which will provide license management, HCI address space control and common parameter library services.

  The ability to start, stop and automatically restart HCI address spaces in the event of a failure

  Centralized facility providing license management services

  Common parameter service provider

  Provides a z/OS command interface for LMS, HCI, Common Parmlib and the CMSC itself

Common Parmlib

  Features of ECC now retrieve parameters through the same, common method which future releases of Compuware products will support

  System symbolic resolution support

LMS

  Now runs as a subtask of the CMSC

  Return on Investment (ROI) data capture is set on by default

  Utilizes the CMSC common parmlib parameter retrieval

HCI

  The previously required parameter files for HCI, CSS TP and DevEnterprise TPs have been consolidated to a single, keyword formatted parameter file

  Utilizes the CMSC common parmlib parameter retrieval

Base Services

Move Base Services to ECC as a common feature, providing a common framework for various Compuware products.

Notes:

1. Abend-AID Release 16.5 or newer, Compuware Program Analyzer Release 16.5 or newer, and DevEnterprise Release 16.5 or newer require ECC Release 16.5 or newer.

2. Enterprise Common Components (ECC) Release 16.5 or newer cannot be in the same zones as Enterprise Common Components 3.3 and prior releases, Abend-AID 12.4 and prior releases, Compuware Program Analyzer Release 5.3, or DevEnterprise 5.3 and prior releases.
