Xpediter/CICS is the premier product choice for interactive, source-level testing of COBOL, Assembler, C, and PL/I programs. With Xpediter/CICS you can interactively analyze and test at the source code level to understand how programs process data and logic. Programmers can even see the potential impact of program logic changes before any changes are made. Xpediter automates the testing and debugging process within the development life cycle, so your applications move quickly into production--and stay there.
Users drive Xpediter/CICS sessions either through the classic character-based 3270 screens, or through the modernized Eclipse graphical user interface provided by Xpediter/Eclipse. Xpediter/Eclipse is provided at no charge and supports a large subset of Xpediter/CICS functionality.
Xpediter/CICS now supports the new ARCH(10) Opcodes for producing Enterprise COBOL and PL/I code that uses instructions available on the 2827-xxxx (IBM zEnterprise EC12) models in z/Architecture mode.
The new Xpediter/CICS Quick Configuration Guide provides the basic required steps to configure, start, access, and test Xpediter at your site. This document is available on the Xpediter/CICS product documentation site at Compuware GO/FrontLine .
• Progressive releases provide the latest functionality and have a permanent release number, for example 17.02.00, where the first two digits are the upcoming year and the second two digits are the quarter of initial release. Licensees who choose Progressive releases acknowledge that their cumulative maintenance, which includes defect fixes and currency updates, may also require them to accept new functionality or reinstall with possible changes to the end-user experience.
• On January 1 of each year, the prior year’s Progressive release is transitioned to become that year’s Classic release. Cumulative maintenance on Classic releases will include currency updates and bug fixes, but will not introduce new functionality.
Although Progressive releases are generally backward-compatible with Classic releases of related products, new Progressive release functionality may require a related product to also be a Progressive release.
OPT is displayed at the top of Xpediter screens for any program compiled with some level of optimization or inlining. For optimized COBOL 5.1 and above programs, OPT(n) is displayed, where n is the level of optimization. For optimized C programs, either OPT or OPT(n) is displayed, depending on the level of optimization.
